The sacrifice of the servant had to be *willingly given* - if Wormtail *ever* wills not to serve Voldemort, if his "loyalty ever wavers" - the hand will instantly either disappear bringing all the pain back, thus informing Voldemort of this disappearance. It might also kill Pettigrew the moment he *thinks* of being disloyal to Voldemort. Or- Wormtails thoughts can be summoned into it for any DE to see... " Well, since any disloyalty to LV could, by your theory, kill PP, would that mean that in repaying his lifedebt to Harry, Peter would be dying for him? Let's say, that LV orders Peter to do some task that will ultimately kill Harry (such as AK him, which I think is a task LV would want to keep for himself, but this is an example, so what the heck), if Peter can't because of his lifedebt (a very old and powerful magic which forced the slimey prof. snape to help Harry, whom he hates), and he will consequently die, is he sacrificing himself for Harry, or, to do so, does he have to have knowledge that he will die for being disloyal/helping Harry? Its late, maybe this made sense, maybe not................ One last quick request: Any links to sites exploring the existence of the archetypes in the HP series would be much appreciated. I've searched with little results.... so maybe ya'll (yes, I'm in the southern US, so its ok to use "ya'll") can suggest some note worthy articles. LTG3 "Ignorance killed the cat.
