As the son of a father who died as a result of
war service, I'm 'glad' JKR killed Fred. And Remus.
And Sirius. I didn't like losing any of those
characters, but I think it's really important that
literature acknowledges the fundamental tragedy that
in war good people die. I think it's especially
important that we don't conceal that fact from kids
in works aimed at them.

As for Teddy - he will go through his life with one
really important piece of knowledge in his head - at
least I hope he will - that Harry has as well. That
he had parents who were willing to die for him for
him to have a better world. That's not a little
thing to know - one thing that angered me when I
first realised it on reading the books was the fact
that Harry had been lied to, that his parents had
died in an accident - so for years he was denied
that knowledge, that understanding, that they died
for him.
