June 14, Grosse Point Michigan

***Education/Job/Role in Life etc:
BS in Clothing and textiles from Michigan State University. I work 
at Kmart International Headquarters where I am a Textile 
Technologist in the Quality Assurance Laboratory. I shrink, fade, 
abrade, rip dissolve and burn just about anything made of fabric 
that Kmart sells.  Among my favorite things to 
<strike>destroy</strike> test are the Martha Stewart home fashion 
products.


***Other things we might want to know about you:
I am a member of the Society for Creative Anachronisms, a medieval 
reenactment group dedicated to recreating the better parts of 6th to 
16th century Europe. In the SCA I am known as Mistress Elen 
Greenhand and I am known for Spinning, weaving and other textile 
related endeavors.

I am a hobbyist beekeeper, do Yoga, and hope to have my hand stand 
down by the end of this year.



***First contact with Harry Potter:
April 2000 – Was traveling to Utah. Finished SS before we got there, 
bought both COS and POA in Murray Utah, and had finished both before 
we got back to Detroit. Joined Hp for Grownups not long after, and 
haven't stopped since.

***Favourite Potter things (books, characters, ships, fics, objets 
d'Art, general enthusing):
You really <i>don't</i> want a full list of my collection. My more 
interesting items include; Numerous first and foriegn editions of 
the second third and fourth books. An olivanders wand box, A screen 
used Hogworts Letter used in the flying envelopes scene, One of the 
Wands used by a student in the "Wingardium Leviosa" scene, 23 pages 
of the COS opening storyboard. A Claw from the animatronic Hedwig, 
Pictures of the troll being built in Jim Hensons Muppet workshop. 
Lots of promotional goodies and flyers, a Christmas card from Jason 
Isaacs. Too much other 'stuff' to list. I've got it bad.

I like Ravenclaws and Slytherins. Appreciate fics that give the 
other houses a fair shake. I'll read any pairing, so long as it's 
well written and tells a good story. 

I was the first person to run the Mad!Winky theory up the flagpole 
over at HpforGrownups (Nobody saluted)and I can hardly wait to see 
how crazy she is in OOTP.  Yes, I read house elf fics, but no, House 
elf smut is not my cuppa tea. Dobby/anybody still squicks me a bit.


***Extent of Potter obsession:
Excessively severe.  I own way too much potter stuff. Scares me a 
bit sometimes. Have nearly worn out my Books on tape. Spend way too 
much time playing Olive/ Olivia Hornby and Edouard Lestrange over at 
Lightningwars RPG

I have a number of Filk songs archived over at Caius Marcus's HPfilk 
site.

I got interested in fanfic by reading Paradigm of Uncertainty and 
Draco Dormiens and quickly spiraled out into reading all sorts of 
unusual stuff.  Got sucked into reading slash by "Irresistable 
Poison" and still follow Midnight Blues "Mirror of Maybe" with 
baited breath.  Like but am not current on the "Paradise" 
series, "Slytherin Rising", and others.

Have been cutting down recently, but still...

***Current/recent reading:
I'm currently rereading/ Listening to the Potter books on tape in 
preparation for the release. Before that I was reading books on the 
spiritual roots of Tantric yoga.
