April 6, 1970 in Manhattan
 
***Education/Job/Role in Life etc:
BA from Vassar College and MA from NYU.
Currently a teacher of English in a small alternative public high 
school in the Bronx for kids who couldn't succeed anywhere else.  I'm 
seriously thinking about going back to school for a second MA in 
social work - but to continue working with the same population I do 
now.
 
***Other things we might want to know about you:
Jewish but living with a Puerto Rican man and the best cat in the 
world.  Vegetarian but with a serious weakness for Haagen Dazs coffee 
ice cream.  I often fantasize about running away to the Caribbean to 
live on the beach and never come back.  
 
***First contact with Harry Potter:
Saw the display at the Barnes & Noble on 86th Street in the spring of 
2000 and couldn't resist.  I didn't know about the hype - honest!
 
***Favourite Potter things:
Everything except for Lockhart and Hagrid.  Don't read fanfic at all 
or buy stuff but I do have a sick thing for Bertie Bott's - mostly by 
encouraging innocent victims to eat them while I watch and then laugh 
uncontrollably when the innocent victim gets a sardine or vomit 
flavored one.  Hey, I had to suffer, too! 
 
***Extent of Potter obsession:
Have read the books more times than I can count; GoF is nearly falling 
apart now (but PoA is definitely my favorite).  All of my students 
know about my serious feelings for Harry and have even included Harry 
in their essays to gain points with me.  :-)  Not so much into the 
movies but I'm so excited for OoP, I don't expect to sleep on Thursday 
or Friday... or maybe Saturday night either.  

Finding HPFGU was one of the best things that happened to me in the 
last few years and while I am no longer a list elf or poltergeist, I 
still actively post to the main and OT lists.   
 
***Other interests/activities:
I read a lot.  Big Buffy fan.  When I can focus, I love to write short 
stories and love ghost stories in particular.
 
***Current/recent reading:
Just read _Angels_ by Marion Keyes.  Recently read _The Secret Life of 
Bees_ by Sue Monk Kidd and _The Girl With a Pearl Earring_ by Tracy 
Chevalier.  They were all very good.

 ***Current/recent listening:
I listen to a lot of classic rock (Steely Dan, Rolling Stones, 
Beatles), big early 80s fan (just ask Heidi!) and love 70s music too.  
Top favorites include Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder.
 
***Current/recent viewing:
Saw _Matrix Reloaded_.  Nothing new or good on tv right now (I've seen 
every Buffy episode far too many times at this point).  Love to watch 
"Great Hotels" on the Travel Channel, where Samantha Brown gets to 
stay at all the best hotels in the US - what a fantastic job!
