Royal Mail prepares itself

I had a good giggle over this article in The Independent newspaper
earlier today:

"The eagerly awaited new Harry Potter novel is so large and heavy
that the Royal Mail is preparing to lay on extra vans to deliver it
at the weekend. As each copy...weighs a hefty 1kg, postal workers
would struggle to carry more than a few of them.

"For safety reasons, postmen are allowed to carry a maximum of 16kg
of post." [Pure and utter bollocks. Stu's an ex-postman and he and
his coworkers were sent out with bags that weren't weighed but were
definately heavier than 16kg.]

"To avoid any tantrums next Saturday from young Potter fans, Royal
Mail officials are putting extra delivery vans on stand-by."

Young Potter fans? Methinks the older fans are much more dangerous
and have better aim. ;)

The article also states that, since the book is too large to fit in
most letter boxes, people must stay home and wait for the delivery.

Two of Stu's brothers are still postmen and another brother is a
Night Sorter, so it'll be interesting to hear what they have to say
about it. I promise to filter out the really bad bits.
