even bear to show a wee bit of Harry and Cho's kiss. I don't
think I saw Tonks as quite the Mary Sue some people did. I was
actually waiting for it to come out that Harry was also a
Metamorphmagus (which is, I agree, a very clunky word and a
clumsy combination of Greek and Latin). After hearing her ability
described, it seemed very close to what Harry did in growing
back his hair when he was young, when his aunt and uncle
gave him terrible haircuts. So maybe when JKR

I thought of that too. We'll see. I still think Tonks is a deliberate
gift to fan ficcers everywhere, who can write the story of her
doomed love for Sirius complete with five handkie ending
(maybe that's why JKR so underplayed Sirius's death in the
actual book <g>) But really, I think JKR had a reason for not
giving Sirius a dramatic hero's death. JKR can write those, and
she does, when somebody sacrifices themselves for a purpose.
But Sirius wasn't intending to sacrifice himself. He died
because a bunch of people, including himself, did stupid things.

I didn't need to see more of the Harry Cho kiss. What for? It
wasn't going to change either of their lives, so all it could do was
give me a vicarious thrill...and if JKR goes there now, where is
she going to go when there's a kiss that really matters?
