The thing is I have no idea of where in the past the Hx could be vulnerable 
but it seemed to me that DD's corpse was alone for an awfully long time, so 
if by any chance the locket was the real one, it could have been replaced. 
Kreacher, on long time orders -if you have the oportunity, do it- (we know he 
is loyal to dead members of the family). He had to discover it by chance, but 
it's a domestic elf that iirc had orders to watch for Draco and had plenty of 
time to have a look at DD (as he hated him, I don't see it difficult to 
happen). Regulus failed but planted a seed.

I know, I know... but still I think Jo is able to pull a trick as cheap as 
this one, a simple explanation for the Cave puzzle that you could buy or not.
