To say the least. It's awful. I still can't get past making up a 
name using "I am..."  The first thing that popped into my mind, and 
what *still* pops in unbidden each time I read or see the scene in 
the movie is "I AM Batman."

"Erised" is an anagram of Desire--specifically it's desire as seen 
in a mirror. Now THAT makes sense. Marvolo is, as was mentioned, is 
simply a nonsense word thrown in to make the villain's name work--
the very definition of "contrived".
