Well, talking of serendipitous (sp?) quotes, this evening I learnt 
that Roosevelt said in his inaugural address in 1933:

'let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is 
fear itself'

Well well well, where have we heard that recently? Or is it biblical 
in origin? I wouldn't know.
