I'll make an utterly unpopular suggestion.
Lupin has no place in the books anymore. As good guy, bad guy, you name it. His time is over. His appearances lately have been the work of a soft-hearted writer who wants to keep a favourite around but has nothing to do for him, except, stricken with hurt-comfort, give him a nice wife to soothe his werewolf brow.
Lupin. Is. Ever. So. Passé.
