What if the 'hate mail' comment wasn't meant to imply that fans 
would send hate mail if she killed off Harry, but that fans would 
send hate mail if she spoiled the ending of the series by telling 
everyone in advance what will happen?  In retrospect, it really was 
a bit of a throw-away line, so I suspect that this isn't her real 
reason for not telling us - think of how many fewer books would 
sell, and how much less hype there would be, if we all knew the 
ending before the book was published?
