Um.
Depends how close Jo is sticking to classical mythology - in the old
Graeco-Roman tradition there were no female centaurs - hence the
latter's enthusiasm for pouncing on human female picnic-parties.

And no, I didn't indicate that option - I went for the hags - FBaWTFT
describes hags gliding about during one of the many abortive meetings
of magical beings/beasties *looking for children to eat*. 
Well, I can take a hint.
