I'm not positive either. Harry doesn't know the Hallows are a test,
and Voldemort has no idea they exist, so what possible contrast is
useful? Why keep a dangerous powerful wand when you can have a normal
one? Notice he didn't make that choice until he was sure his old wand
was repaired. I call that prudence, not selfless abstention. As for
the epilogue...gack I say.
