Well, isn't that the whole horcrux thing all over again? Where exactly
in Books 1 - 5 were horcruxes discreetly mentioned and then tucked
away to be pulled out again in Book 6, so that we all could say "Oh!
If only we had remembered the horcruxes!!"

Oh, right. They weren't.
