Some sad news...

Hello, everyone--

I've just received an email informing me that Kat McFarlane, Gatta,
passed away at the beginning of September.  There are not really
any details given; this person, a friend of Kat's, explains that Kat
suffered from a number of health problems in recent years and that
they finally caught up with her.  This person also mentioned that
she's been a friend of Kat's for almost fifty years, since they were
freshmen together at Stanford, and Kat asked her to close out her
affairs; as part of this, she's emailed everyone in Kat's address book,
which is how the message came to me.

Kat's friend is going to give a memorial in her honor in late October;
if anyone here would like details, or would like to be put in touch
with Kat's friend, please email me and I can give you her contact
details.
