there said this is a line party list, and that you have meetings
too. I'd like to attend a line party, for Prisoner of Askaban,

meeting or two, but I seem to have missed the March meeting by four
days. Are the meetings for discussion of the books, for sewing
costumes, or for what? When, and where, is the next meeting?
Hi, Carolyn!
We've recently started having meet-ups in the Bay Area. We've had
two in recent months, and have one scheduled for April 4th. I think
we're going to try and get together once a month, in different
locations so the same people don't always have to drive the
farthest. We do talk about Harry Potter, and all sorts of other
stuff, as well. We haven't done any sewing, but if you're interested
in that, I'd recommend you post something here and see if there are
others who would want to get together for a sewing party (I might be
interested, myself, depending on when and where).
I'm not aware of any line parties up here that are already
plannedfor PoA, but again, this would be a great place to post if
you want to get one together. I'm sure there are people here who'd
love to do that.
I was going to post a "meet-up" report to this group anyway, so I
might as well do it now! :-)
On Saturday, several of us got together for a meet-up at Beckett's
Irish Pub in Berkeley. We had a bunch of people turn up; I was the
last one to arrive, and was surprised (in a good way!) to see so
many people there. People came from all over the place - Santa Cruz
and San Jose, San Francisco, Santa Rosa and even as far away as
Sacramento. Oh - and did I mention Washington, DC? ::grin:: (That
was Joywitch, who *says* she was here visiting Amy Z, but I think
she really came just for the meet-up). ::grin::
We talked a bit about Potter, and also about scary books and films,
and all sorts of other stuff. I brought a bunch of BookCrossings
books to release, and set them all free - several were taken by
other HP peeps (don't forget to go to the website and make a journal
entry please! ::grin::) I did take a picture, which didn't come out
too well (it was a bit dark in the bar, and my flash didn't really
do the job), but I'll upload it to the photos section here anyway.
Our next meet-up is scheduled for Sunday, April 4th, at O'Kane's
Irish Pub and Grill in San Ramon, 200 Montgomery Street. I've made
the reservation for 3.00. There's a review of the restaurant, and a
link to a map here:
http://www.beeradvocate.com/beerfly/user_reviews/2634 . It's easy to
find off the 680 freeway, and there's plenty of free parking.
Hope to see you there! :-)
