I've been doing both those things - cutting and pasting all the 
relevant messages into files and printing them out when I was doing 
the FAQs.  I found it was easier to retype bits of messages than to 
shuffle the text around on-screen.

I haven't even collected the messages on Snape yet, but I think I'll 
need about ten reams of paper to print them out.

Nightmares for me are Snape, Spells and Charms and Casting/Movie.  
The rest should be done fairly soon (he lied, hopefully).

My approach now is: 

-a short intro
-summaries of the discussion topics (not necessarily 
questions/answers) with main message #s under each.  I'm naming some 
club members and saying 'see also xyz FAQ' for cross-referencing.
-a few appropriate quotes.
-any references that might be required.
