Someone made a good point in a message in my block! <blinks in
disbelief> It's in message 41906:

**************

2. pg 431: Hermione is telling off Rita Skeeter in the Three
Broomsticks, and
Rita replies: "Sit down, you silly little girl, and don't talk about
things
you don't understand," said Rita Skeeter coldly....(re: Ludo Bagman)

Wait, I thought. I've heard something similar to this line
before...aha, here
it is...

PoA pg 360: "KEEP QUIET, YOU STUPID GIRL!" Snape shouted, looking
suddenly
quite deranged. "DON'T TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!" (Re:
Black's
innocence)

Interesting...is this just a common put-down for girls in the
Potterverse? Or,
is it something that JKR heard as a "swotty" little girl and brought
it out
again for her "younger" self -- Hermione? Or, is this just the
lowest put down
you can give Hermione, who prides herself on being "the cleverest
witch of her
age"? Just thought I'd draw that comparison.

Cindy -- who never noticed that before
