But each team would have a name. (Maybe even Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw,
Slytherin and Gryffindor.) When they post about their team's work,
they could use a prefix. So if I were on Slytherin, and I wanted to
ask confer with my teammates Ali, Tom and Derannimer about an outline
I had drafted for the Harry FP, then I'd post under a subject
header: "SLYTHERIN: Harry FP Rulebreaking Outline."
That way, anyone with time to read everything can do so. Those
without time can easily skip based on the prefixes and just keep up
with what their own team is doing. Those who aren't moving very fast
will see that other teams are working like house elves. And we'll be
able to send free agents to help any team that is struggling or
falling behind.
Tom replies:
Oh, a prefix is a great idea!
And, if anyone doesn't want to be a Slytherin (as someone who doesn't
think all Slytherins are evil, I wouldn't totally mind this, but
still) or a Hufflepuff, then we could always just use the name of the
FAQ we're writing. "Harry: Protections" or "GOVT: Elections in the
Ministry" could probably work as well, with the added bonus of
members not having to think: "Hmm, what was Ravenclaw working on
again?"
Oh, and also, keeping these discussions on-list sounds like a great
way to make sure that nothing's lost or accidentally trashed.
Originally, I thought that we'd communicate via e-mail, but thought
that stuff could get lost, inboxes clogged, important messages
bounced back (this is occasionally a problem for me) and so forth.
One question: do we have the storage capacity to support all of those
messages?

But, er, it occurs to me that *another* big priority -- and one I'd
probably be far more interested in researching/writing
(pleasepleaseplease?) is the one on the Wizarding World's government.
Tom:
Yeah - I love this kind of stuff, too! If it's not a major priority,
it could be saved for later, but I think that you're right on about
the government's significance and relevance pre- and post-OOP. I can
remember some great discussions about 'elections' and 'possible
connections with muggle governments' (like the idea that the MoM is
somehow a secret part of the UK's existing govt) that could be part
of a great FAQ.
I also agree that Harry should probably be a main goal, for now.
