Unexpected Downtime - An Explanation

As you may already know, FictionAlley.org had some unexpected downtime
this week. One of the techies was trying to test something for a Cool
New Feature That Authors Will Love And Which We Expect To Announce
Really Soon, and broke the database in the process, which made some
fics hard to get to, and others became hard to review. Then, our
server host had some lightning issues. And that brought down all our
servers for a few hours. But everything is fixed now. Of the
73,000-plus chapters and one-shots on FictionAlley, over 72,000 are
working. That means there are about 1,000 that still have problems. If
you can't access a fic, please email the help desk at
help at ....

There is one remaining issue: if you submitted a fic since August 10th
and that submission has disappeared or isn't showing up correctly,
please delete it (if you can) and submit it again. Then drop us a line
at help at ... with the subject line "Argh!" and your FA
username, and we'll tweak your owl inbox to give you some extra space
to make up for the inconvenience.

Thanks for being so patient, and look for our Cool New Feature later this month!

Best,
Heidi for FictionAlley
