New Codes?

Speaking of new codes, should we possibly anticipate what new codes
should definitely be added before we start to code the post OOP
threads; i.e. the Veil, Snape's Worst Memory, (etc.)? We can always
code these to the chapters they appear in but
I think these two
subjects will be back to haunt us in one of the next two books. These
two examples in particular have also been pretty prominent subject
points, even now; that I think it should warrant them a code of their
own. Snape's worst memory has got at least as much attention on the
forum as the prank, along with the memories that Harry tapped into
with the Stinging hex. It could be something like Snape's worst
memory/memories.
Just an attempt to eliminate the over coding to the character(s)
involved in the subject
Also to avoid the type of situation where the code was created later
and the threads are now spewed into several other headings. Here is
an example:
I just came across one that could have been useful, or could be
useful, while coding. I've never seen it before but, David
<dfrankiswork, gave a shortened version of the Heir of Gryffindor as
HoG. There has been and will be a great deal of talk over heirs to
Gryffindor. I've seen some placed under Godric and some under
Heirs/rules of inheritance and also under Ancestors/descendants
depending on how the author termed the person in question; i.e. James
was an heir to Godric or James was a descendant of Godric. Personally
I put them under Godric because to me he is the subject; to be the
heir or descendant is a secondary subject to him
of course if HoG
would have been available as a subheading ;-)
(a revelation of the HoG anagram meaning HoGwarts belongs to the Heir
of Griffindor
no time to think about that now must get back to coding)
I think it would be wise to attempt to predict the categories we may
encounter before we come across them instead of realizing a smidge
late that the subject should have had its own category and run into
the reviewing headaches and overindulged character usage.
I'm just trying to keep in mind that hindsight is 20/20 and we should
learn from our mistakes along with the fact that we have all been on
this forum long enough to know what subject matter will get the most
attention with the introduction of OOP.
A question. I came across a small thread about how the Durmstrang
ship got into the lake at Hogwarts, where would any of you code this?
Although the ship is not a subject that is talked about a lot the
lake could be. I know that I induced a conversation about a year ago
concerning the connection of the lake with the ravine, Harry and
Hagrid went over, under Gringotts and that Durmstrang ship came into
play at that time connecting the possible lakes. I have recently seen
it on the main thread again
the lakes I mean, which I think may be
another category we need. It may not be necessary at this point but
where else would you put the occasional lake discussion?

P.S. Magna, if its any consolation I felt the same way you do, and at
times still do, but I try to keep in mind that the newbies on the
forum will be put-out to offer any info that has already been
discussed because of this effort
and for the older members, well a
smorgasbord of information to sink or float their boat. In the end, I
see coding and reviewing to get this catalogue up and running more
important than the little tidbits of thoughts that I can respond to
on the forum
at the moment anyhow :-) via my neglect to offer my
unwanted opinion nowadays even here, much
not that I don't have a
mind too ;-)
My currant priorities: Life and its business
then coding/reviewing
then if there is time, a thought or two after checking the forum and
unless someone ultimately provokes me to think and respond in a very
rare post that I usually don't have time to continue to discuss,
which is a shame; I blame it all on life :-)
This is my status at the moment, which may change dramatically when
the little lady divulges information to the extent that we will all
be setting our priorities upside down.
Anyway, welcome to the craziness, Magna!
