I'm not sure how appropriate the term 'unilaterally' is in this
context, but there's nothing wrong with moving a discussion in or
out of TBAY. If a person with whom you've been discussing a theory
responds in TBAY style, you can follow him into the 'Bay or respond
in non-TBAY style to his TBAY. Either one is perfectly acceptable,
as long as you remember to add or remove the TBAY prefix as
appropriate.
