Tori Spelling???
I wish I could remember where I read it, but Columbus stated in a press
release that "When Daniel walked into the room, we all knew we had
found our Harry." I've posted before, singing young Radcliffe's praises
to the sky, and today is no exception. Having read SS/PS, and found it
to be a very good book, I was mildly interested in seeing the movie. (I
went primarily because my daughter wanted to see it.) But when I had
left the theater, I stood with the converted. Within the first ten
minutes of the story, I turned to my husband and said, "Look at that
kid...he's positively luminous!"
As JKR has attested herself, Daniel Radcliffe was the young actor out of
the masses who most captured Harry's gentleness of spirit. Having seen
him in live interviews/appearances, I am inclined to believe that he is
neither spoiled nor savvy in that jaded, Hollywood way. His parents may
have some connections, but I doubt that such a plum role would have gone
to anyone who didn't deserve it, regarless of connections.
As to his ability to grow in the role as it becomes a bit edgier - I've
posted before that I think he has the chops for it!
Mary - who, like Rosie O'Donnell, would love to take polite young Dan to
Great Adventure and put him on a rollercoaster.
