Whatever happened to Jeff Hordley? And James Purefoy...

Salut!

Since we're on the subject of Sirius casting, whatever happened to 
Jeff Hordley supposedly being up for the part?  I remember seeing on 
Leaky Cauldron that he mentioned being in talks for it on some 
interview show.

I have absolutely no clue who he is (although I've seen piccies), and 
I've no recollection of Emmerdale being on when I lived in London 
(although at the time I was too busy watching Brookside and 
Eastenders to care about any other shows).  So for those of you on 
that side of the pond, how do you rate him as an actor?  Could he be 
Sirius?  I can't help but picture him in the part, mostly because he 
was the first actor I saw actually attached to that particular 
casting rumor.  

One person I think I'd like to see as Sirius is James Purefoy.  Most 
may know him from A KNIGHT'S TALE with Heath Ledger.  He played the 
Prince, Edward, whom no one would fight with.  He was also in 
BEDROOMS & HALLWAYS with Jennifer Ehle of P&P fame.  Crap movie in my 
opinion, but damn - he's hot!  I think he's got the look for Sirius.  
So there's my vote.  Wouldn't mind seeing him act alongside Colin 
Firth :-)

Ewan McGregor?  Too boyish (i.e. young) looking I think to be taken 
seriously as one of Snape's former classmates.
