Actual age and age range are two very different things. More often
than not, actors play characters who are actually several years their
junior. Alan Rickman has held up fairly well, and I think he can
still pass for mid-30's (particularly bitter-and-probably-not-very-
healthy mid-30's, as I would expect from Snape). Regardless, there's
still the issue that whoever plays Lupin and Sirius must look roughly
like they would have been going to school at the same time as Alan
Rickman. Makeup can work wonders, but I don't consider it a
preferred option.
