A big thanks to my "free" therapists, Richard and Nia!

Yes, I know exactly what you're talking about, although my HP
experience was very different, as I'd not read the books before I saw
the PS/SS movie.
<snipped quite a bit of good stuff that helped me>
Back to HP: with only one or two exceptions, I approve wholeheartedly
of the changes made to PS/SS in its movie adaptation (my main
objection is the change from JKR's humour to Kloves's), and basically
I trust the production team to do the same with the second. Whilst I
know a lot more about it, and have willingly sucked up the hype over
the last 10 months, I continue to believe that the changes will be
for the better.
Me:
Thank-you, Richard. I have willingly sucked up to the hype as well, and I think I just need to take a "chill pill"!
Richard:
I don't see Kenneth Branagh as Gilderoy Lockhart AT ALL, though, and
remain to be convinced...
Me:
There's where we disagree, Richard. I think he looks cheeky and smarmy enough in the COS pics to pull off a superb Lockhart. And that picture where he is flourishing his wand standing in front of a picture of himself, who is painting a picture of himself within that picture...I can't stop laughing at that! I will be cheering with Gail, et al, for Snape to kick his lilac covered bum!

What I like to tell myself is that these are two
entirely different media. Our experiences with the written word, no
matter how much we discuss and analyze with others, is largely
personal.
Me:
Yes, I agree. I'm hoping to understand and accept that a lot faster this time than I did with HP1.
Nia:
So Daniel Radcliffe's eyes are blue and not green -- except for
the reasons that are yet to be revealed by JKR, I had no problem
with that. He makes a wonderful Harry and his eyes are very
expressive. JKR loved the movie, and she loved Daniel in the role.
She commented that (even though many scenes in the book had to be
snipped) all the important bits were there.
Me:
I also loved Dan's performance; please don't get me wrong about that. I just was surprised at how much I obsessed over that little detail, which I think kind of ruined the rest of my movie experience on that opening day. If I just go in there expecting to see and all ready loving those baby-blues, I'm sure I'll be okay. :-)
Nia:
I would love to see the movie as I've seen the book in my head,
but that vision of the book is always with me and it's mine alone.
The movie, on the other hand, is the collective vision of the many
people who created it--their unique interpretation. We post our
ideas (our interpretations) to chat groups on the Web. They, with
considerable more resources, are able to "post" their ideas in
several thousand theaters.
Me:
I'm learning to departmentalize the story-in-my-head-version far away from the movie version. I like how you compared the movie to a "post", which helps me have a more accepting attitude towards the movie because that's how I look at the "list" we have. Good point!
Another thing I heard is to use the "shopping cart" method. When you go grocery shopping, you don't put everything from the store in your basket all at once. No, you take what you like, want and need and leave the things you don't on the shelf.
Nia:
Relax, and have a cup of tea.
Me:
No kidding, huh? I'm so nutters! A nice, soothing chamomile with lemon does sound good...hey, I can even go to the local British market down the street and pick up a jar of clotted cream and some fresh scones so I can go for the whole British experience!
~Lilac~
Who, on her visit to the store "London Market", also saw bags of "crisps" (chips), boxes of "jelly" (jell-o), a small jar of black "treacle" (?? equivalent) and...drum roll.... SHERBET LEMONS (lemon drops)!!!

I say so in Year with the Yeti." --Gilderoy Lockhart, COS
