Hello everyone!
It's nice to be able to voice ones opinions to people who know what I'm
talking about. (None of my close friends or family have taken much interest
in Harry, so they all sigh patiently and listen very reluctantly when I
start telling them the latest news from the HP-universe. I try to shut up
about it, but sometimes I just can't help myself. Can anyone relate?)
Maybe I'm a bit slow on the uptake, there have already been comments on this
site on the new international trailer, but I didn't have access to it until
today, through the Leaky. I love-love-loved it, of course. I don't know how
many times I watched it, but it was quite a few. Then, of course, I had to
click my way through it, frame by frame to SCRUTINIZE each shot. It was fun.
I have a couple of omments. First one's completely irrelevant--but in the
closeup of Harry's eyes as he reads Tom's diary, you can see the reflection
of two people in his glasses. My guess is they're Chris Columbus and a
cameraman. I thought that was quite funny.
Speaking of Harry's eyes, since they've been up for discussion a few times:
In this new trailer they have taken on a schizophrenic quality as to colour.
Most closeups of his face aren't close enough to determine eyecolor, but in
some shots, where the eyecolor is clearly distiguishable, they are SOMETIMES
blue and SOMETIMES green. What's going on? Let me give you an example. In
the shot of Harry talking to Dobby in the hospital bed, his eyes are blue.
However, in the shot of Harry talking to Lucius in Flourish & Blotts (where
Lucius uses the knob of his fancy walking stick--which is the head of a
snake:try that on for a little gratuitous symbolism--to push Harry's bangs
aside to reveal his scar) the eyes are ABSOLUTELY green. So what's the deal?
Did the producers change their mind half way through, or did they just throw
a little CGI into the trailer for fun? Anyway, now that I've seen the green
version, I have to admit I preferred them blue. Call me a heretic, but Dan's
eyes are lovely the way they are. We know he's Harry anyway. (Unless, of
course the particular colour matters later. It's a can of worms, I tell
ya...)
One more comment: I think the revolving wooden phoenix (someone commented on
it before) is the top ornament of the revolving staircase that leads to
Dumbledore's office.
