After looking at this, I'm very, very happy that Danny's not wearing the green contacts.  His eyes are his best feature, and to change them, unless it was an absolute necessity to the story, would be a detriment to him and to the film aesthetically.
 
I think it would be like changing Elijah Wood's eyes in Lord of the Rings.
  
It would seem that in canon Harry has his mother's eyes due to magic, and not necessarily eye color.
 
To hire another actor just because he has green eyes would be counterproductive and just...wrong.
 
But then I'm a big fan of Danny's.
