Well, I liked them and thought they were good ;-) But then again, I didn't
read the books until after I saw the first movie on HBO, so I fell for the
visuals first and then read the books ;-)
There are some things I might have done differently in the first two films,
but overall, I loved them and am looking forward the third one a lot <g>
I guess my perspective is different from the folks who read the books first.
Maybe if I had, I would have anticipated the movies with fear and trepidation,
etc. It seems that the majority of the fandom is this way and they, of
course, were not satisfied with the films. I guess it's all about expectations. When
I read the first book, I had already seen the visuals of the movie, so the
characters in my head looked like the actors from the movie, same with the sets,
etc.
When I joined lists and discussion groups, I found that the favorite thing
was to trash the movies and Columbus (not everyone did this, but a lot of folks
did and still do <g>). I grew tired of all the negativity, frankly.
Anyway, I love the films and all the actors in them, have no problem with
the casting of the third film or the new director, etc. I don't care if they
pare down quidditch to one match and don't care that Oliver Wood isn't in the
film ;-)
It is Harry's story, after all, so as long as they stick to the major plot
points, which are about him anyway, I'll be happy.
I just want to see it! Next June seems soooo long off!
Cindy
