And if these photos *were* dress rehearsal shots, the kids would have
been in the clothes they were actually going to WEAR in the shot.
That's why it's called DRESS rehearsal :-) in theatrical productions,
anyway -- it's usually the very last rehearsal before opening night.
Also, movies are not rehearsed in the same way that plays are
rehearsed. Movies are rarely shot sequentially (not even HP, though
these have been shot less-unsequentially than most). While I suppose
there might be a few run-throughs before filming begins, to give
everyone a sense of how the whole film will go, it's my understanding
that the actors go home in the evening, learn their lines, get up the
next day (often at some ridiculous hour like 4:00 a.m.), go to makeup
and wardrobe, wait for their scenes to be shot (or, if they're still
in school, attend lessons on the set), rehearse the scene in costume,
wait some more while the sound and lighting technicians put
everything in place, and then shoot as many takes as the director
thinks are needed.

At least that's how I've heard and read that it goes.

At any rate, I am looking forward to seeing Cuaron's interpretation
of POA. I think it speaks volumes that JKR is willing to let Cuaron
do things considerably differently than Columbus did. (Or maybe it
says something about Columbus, since he's the producer this time.)
Thought actually I think it speaks most about David Heyman, since
he's the executive producer and probably has the most to lose in
terms of professional stature if Cuaron blows this.
