I have to admit that Gary Oldman looks nothing like how I pictured
Sirius; however, I think he's an excellent choice for the role.
Oldman is an excellent acor and is quite capable of pulling
off 'demented' (if you'll excuse the pun). In PoA Sirius comes off
as intense and off balance even after we find out the truth, and it
takes a skilled actor to pull that off. I would rather have an actor
who can act than an actor that totally looks the part but can't act
for beans. Rickman's Snape is excellent even though the actor is
almost twenty years older than the character. >>

I have to say I was surprised that Gary Oldman *wanted* the part of Sirus.
I guess I would not
have thought Harry Potter movies was his cup of tea, so to speak.
However, I think it is an
excellent choice, and he is an awesome actor who definitely could pull the
part off. I think he
is going to make the movie much better. :-) Like you said, I'd rather
have someone who can
act, but I will say, to me, Gary Oldman, in costume, is what *I* thought
of as Sirius, or close
  to it.

  Kimberly
