Sirius: The Casting Game

Hey all, new to the movie group, but not so new in the book group.  
Anyways, re: Oldman as Sirius.  I understand that Oldman is a good 
actor, but according to JKR, Sirius is supposed to be drop dead 
gorgeous.

 Gerard Butler, also from the UK, actually IS hot.  Anyways, I'm just 
really annoyed that Oldman is playing Sirius.  There are plenty of 
*hot* UK actors that they could have cast in that role, and I'm 
really worried that it's going to affect my appreciation of the next 
three movies.

I agree that Alan Rickman was/is a perfect choice for Snape, and I 
too will miss Harris, but why Oldman?  Does anyone know who else 
tried to get the role?
