Firstly, let me preface this by saying that think it's very hard to
compare the two, because film and print are such different media.
That said, some of my favorite embellishments were:
1.The violet pudding getting dropped on what's-her-name's head,
instead of the kitchen.
2.The way they reworked the car ride to Hogwarts; the way it was
written was fine for a novel, but would have been pretty boring on film.
3.Lucius Malfoy actually beginning to use Avada Kedavra on Harry.
That said, I have a few where the movie really disappointed, too:
1.The end of CoS. I have no idea why the whole school would applaud
Hagrid. Bugs me every time
2.Devil's Snare. In the book, Hermione loses her head and Ron has to
remind her she knows how to conjure fire. Both these characters lose
something in the movie version.
3.Firenze. Enough said about that.
