Maggie Smith (though I'll always know her as Professor McGonegal),
played the mean old Mrs. Medlock. This is the only other role I've
seen her play (I'm not up on my British films); it was weird to see
her play someone mean! Even though they changed the ending so that
she turned nice.

David Copperfield with a 10 yr. old Daniel Radcliffe ;-) She's
brusque and seemingly mean at first, but her real nature is
revealed later on and she certainly loves David ;-) She's done tons
of films though; a very long and distinguished career. The Prime of
Miss Jean Brodie is perhaps her best known - she was nominated for
an Oscar for it. She won an Oscar for California Suite in the 70's.
Not to mention her long career in the theater. She didn't get made
a 'Dame' for nothing <g>

Beth: I enjoyed listening to her southern (U.S.) accent in "Divine
Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" (although the book was better) and
I just rented "My House In Umbria", in which she plays a very non-
McGonagall character opposite Timothy Spall.

For a list of her films (and a great picture!), try here:

Beth, who'd remembered "Clash of the Titans" and "Sister Act", but
had forgotten "Hook".
