I think they were given these outfits
specifically FOR the tasks, so that
they had something to wear that
wouldn't be their own school uniforms.
After all, not every kid has dragon
fighting uniforms stashed away some
where. And I think Harry's robe goes
over it, we just don't see that in the
picture.

<That court jester get-up for the third
task is
just absurd.>

Actually, it isn't, er, to me. It
reminds me of medieval coloured tunics,
the different banding of colour that
come from your, or your Lord's crest.
Black/Scarlet would make sense for
Harry since It's a Hogwarts plus house
colour. Hogwarts doesn't have it's own
colour and it would look odder with
Red, Green, Blue, Yellow which I'm sure
the costume designer tried first (Yes
it would be more accurate, but we're
playing to an audience that knows the
books, as well as one who just knows
the movies...and even in my head I'm
giggling at Harry). But again, I think
the robes go over so it lessens the
impact of the look, like the Quidditch
uniform.

Although it makes me wonder about
Krum's since their colours are also
black and scarlet.

(and yes, if Fluer and Cedric show up
in those colours, then the costume
designer is just smoking something).
