I happened to be watching the Sense and Sensibility
DVD last night with Emma Thompson's commentary and I
had to laugh when she was talking about Alan Rickman's
character in the film. She said something about when
she was writing the screenplay she had to make Col.
Brandon mysterious, but also likeable (or something
like that) and then she said and I am paraphrasing
here, 'But of course it was Alan Rickman and he would
be mysterious playing a milkman'
<g> How true though. I love every one of Snape's
lines in the films because of how Rickman delivers
them. His voice is a treasure ;-)
I remember one critic saying about POA: 'No one but
Alan Rickman could make, 'turn to page 394' sound like
a death sentence' or something like that ;-)
(or whatever page it was, my memory isn't too good
right now).
