[HPFGU-Movie] Draco's creature?

I was just watching COS...in the scene where Hermione asks McGonagall about
the Chamber of Secrets, I was trying to determine what kind of creature
Draco had on his desk. Does anyone know? It looked like some sort of lizard
or baby alligator?? Maybe a basilisk lizard?? I saw one of those at the pet
store, and, of course, it brought HP to mind! :-)
Ron has Scabbers, Neville, the toad, Hermione, some sort of iguana, not sure
what Harry has either, for that matter???
I guess Crookshanks (who appears next book), and Hedwig are not used of
transfiguration experiments?
