That's kind of what I was thinking. Imagine being Remus having to 
teach that to the kids :( . I found the voluntary thing interesting 
as well. I would think LV or some other bad guy would do it then just 
to take people out (but maybe that's just my vengeful mind ;) ). It 
seemed reminiscent to me of old, out of date textbooks that you'd 
occasionally come across in school like some of the things they used 
to teach in the old days that are just irrational by fact.
