Julie:
>From what I've read the scriptwriter (forgot his name) did
press JKR to give him any suggestions/notes on the script,
and she did insert a few bits, but mostly gave him free
rein. She certainly read the script, and though I do think
she views the books and movies as two separate entities in
most ways, if something was completely out of order I
presume it would be cut or changed. Which simply means I
do believe Ginny's patronus must be a phoenix. (The other
option is that JKR had no patronus chosen for Ginny so
let this one stand, but that's hard to believe.)

I do find this annoying, because I really suspected a
phoenix patronus might play a part in DH, and it would
belong to either Harry or Snape, Dumbledore's Men (yes,
I'm assuming on the latter!). Why Ginny would even
have a phoenix patronus I don't know (unless it comes
to symbolize *Harry* in DH, which would make sense, but
it doesn't make sense in OotP).

Anyway, the other interesting change in OotP I thought
was the Pensieve scene (which is instead something Harry
sees when he breaks through Snape's Occlumency defenses).
While Lily is present in the scene, she does not defend
Snape, nor does Snape call her a mudblood. This would
seem to indicate that "Snape's worst memory" is not
about Lily at all, neither his humiliation at being
defended by her, nor his regret at calling her mudblood
and losing her "good" opinion. Perhaps he was just
humiliated at being defended by a girl in general,
rather than by Lily specifically.

I'm not sure what this different interpretation of the
Pensieve scene means for Snape and Lily's relationship
(or "connection" might be a better word, since I'm sure
there was something that connected them), but it seems
to put a bit of a damper on the whole Snape secretly
loved Lily scenario.

Julie,
no fan of the Snape loved Lily theory anyway.
