The director said in an interview a month or so ago that Dan  auditioned for 
the role like anyone else, and had to beat out everyone else to  get the role. 
 He didn't get the part because he's a movie star, teen  heartthrob or Harry 
Potter.  He got it because he nailed the  audition.  In an interview posted 
online yesterday, Dan said he heard about  the part two years ago.  He mentions 
that Gary Oldman has appeared nude on  stage, and we all know Gary is one of 
Dan's heroes.  So Dan probably talked  the role over with Gary and other actors 
he admires to find out what he should  do.  He's been taking voice lessons 
for 18 months, so he's been preparing  to go on stage at some point whether he 
got the "Equus" role or not, or so it  appears - or maybe he already knew he 
had the part nailed?  Or else he was  preparing for it, I don't know.  I do 
think it's funny he said he couldn't  see himself doing full frontal nudity when 
he was interviewed about the bath  scene in GoF, yet by the time that was being 
filmed, he was probably already  thinking about doing "Equus."  In this

That's a big leap  from the shy little boy he used to be!  (And if you don't 
speak Brit slang,  "getting my kit off" means disrobing.)

The nude scene isn't the one where he's "masturbating" on horseback -  it's 
the botched love scene between him and the girl (who's also nude in the  
scene).
