That's the way it is in the U.S., but in the U.K., the 8 performance 
week starts on Monday and finishes on Saturday, with Sundays dark for 
most theatres. Matinees in London vary.  Most are Wednesday and 
Saturday, but a couple of shows (like Evita) have Thursday matinees.  
Lion King does have Sunday matinees, but I think that's one of the few 
in London which does.
