How Satisfied Are You With The Cast?

Sorry I haven't participated much in discussions -
(busy busy busy keeping up with four kids) - but this
one seemed too good to pass up. (I'll try to do better
in 2008)

First of all, I don't know that I could give any of
the cast perfect marks for how they look compared to
the characters as described in the books except for
Alan Rickman, Julie Walters, Robbie Coltrane, and
Maggie Smith - somehow I envision these four whenever
I pick up the books now - if I ever had a different
visual of these characters I couldn't say anymore - I
just think of these actors - I would also give them
all O's - I think they are marvelous!

In terms of the trio and some of the younger members
of the cast, they all have certain quirks that don't
quite match up to the books (Daniel Radcliffe's eye
color /Rupert Grint being shorter than the Phelps,
etc.) - but at the same time I don't know that one
can really fault anyone here - it would be difficult
to envision what 12 year olds are going to look like
as they mature. I think when they were casting, and
quite correctly in my opinion, they were going more
for chemistry and here is where I think they really
scored. I would certainly give Daniel Radcliffe,
Rupert Grint and Emma Watson an O for their on-screen
chemistry (maybe offscreen as well - they do seem to
get along quite well. Individually, I agree with
whoever said that they liked Dan better in the earlier
movies - he seems a little too polished and put
together in the later movies so I would give him an E.
I would give both Rupert and Emma Os, though - I think
they are quite wonderful,

In terms of the rest of the cast, I can't think of
anyone whom I don't like in their roles with the
exception of Michael Gambon. I guess in my mind you
can't beat Britain for fine actors!
