Geoff:
Depends on what you consider to be specifics.

In the book, the last confrontation between Harry and Voldemort
takes place in the Great Hall. The two protagonists are described
as circling round each other the whole time, Harry watching very
carefully for evidence that Voldemort is about to cast the spell.

Nowhere do they come into physical contact. If they were to, would
Voldemort waste his time asking Harry "Why do you live?" rather
than complete the task he has been trying to do for sixteen years -
eliminate his nemesis?
So they made it "look" one way for the film rather than step-by-step from
the pages of the book and that changes the storyline? How? First of all,
let's focus on what a storyline is, in terms of if Harry marries Hermione at
the end, that's changing it, if people live that die in the book, that's
altering the storyline, if they move a scene from the great hall to outside
the clock tower, that's visuals and in no way, shape or form changes the
storyline.

Also, why is this apparently taking place on the Astronomy Tower?
More visually interesting in a visual medium like, let's say, film

In the book again, although some damage detailed - the main
staircase is mentioned - the Hall is sufficiently intact for furniture
to be there and we have to wait for the sunrise to come over the
window sill... which to me is tinkering.
I remember an entire wall coming down and opening up to the outside during
the giant attack. Also, the Clock Tower is strictly a movie invention since
film-three and not Rowlings at all, so anything there is a film modification
but to logistics, not storyline.

In other areas, someone has already commented on the guy
stopping the train, which strikes me personally as unnecessary
such as the five minutes or so of film time wasted over the attack
on the Burrow and the station cafeteria scene in HBP.

But we must wait and see.....
Well, I agree the burrow battle was pointless and only there because they
felt the film was moving too slow, and I agree it sucked and that was
changing the storyline because something happens that never happens in the
books.
