Thanks for the reply (and thank you also to Meril and Simon). I guess 
I spoke too fast about fanfic being internet-driven, since I did know 
about the Sherlok and Star Trek stuff. I meant more that the Net must 
make the whole process infinitely easier than doing it by word-of-
mouth or 'zine. Cost barriers are nil, you've got a built-in audience 
rather than having to go find one, and I can't quite tell but there 
seems also to be a new level of interactivity to all of it--I-write-a-
chapter-you-comment-on-it etc.? 

It completely and utterly spins my head around to read in the GWTW 
thread that JKR has read some HP fanfic. Is that confirmed?
