My husband is right now, in his lunch hour, out shopping for a
birthday present for me (I hope). Everyone considers me to be fairly
Hermione-ish, so speaking for myself... I agree with Doreen - do not
go for the obvious. That for me, and probably for Hermione, would be
books. It very rarely works. Practically everytime anyone has
bought me a book I have either a) already got it and read it or b)
thought about buying it and decided not to because I didn't want it.
I admit that I am a slightly extreme case, because I buy several a
week - but Hermione is an extreme case as well.
I hope this helps - probably doesn't.
