Colin for Lupin? That's interesting. I am sure everyone is sick of
me by now, blathering on about Colin Firth as Sirius, but Lupin?
Hadn't considered it. I chose Colin Firth as Sirius, as, besides the
fact that he is undeniably sexy, he is also very good at the tortured
soul/enigmatic roles. Besides P&P, does anyone remember him in a BBC
drama in the 80s? It was called Tumbledown or Tumbleweed or
something like that, and he played an ex-Army officer with post
traumatic stress syndrome. As you can see, my memory of this is a
little shaky, but I do remember that he was extremely good at
conveying this - manic one moment, violently angry the next, in a
deep depression after that. I think remembering this made me think
of him for Sirius, who is also a character who is teetering close to
the edge - at least in PoA.
For Lupin. I don't know. Despite the fact that Lupin has to hide the
fact that he is a werewolf, I have always considered him a much more
open and less-faceted character than Sirius. I certainly can't
imagine him smoldering enigmatically at the camera. He is more even
tempered, open of face, fair, and (dare I say it) bland compared to
Sirius, and therefore not the sort of person I could imagine Colin
Firth playing. I don't know where all this comes from - just my mind
on super-rant, I guess.
