I love Lewis Carroll. When I had chicken pox (age 9) my
grandmother came over one day and read Through the Looking
Glass aloud. (Nice Princess Bride moment) I thought it was
really strange and at points thought my grandmother was
making up part of it. When I was older I read it for
myself and cracked up when I realized that, by Jove, she
hadn't made it up! :-)

We had to read All Creatures Great and Small in the 7th
grade and I remember that most of us didn't care for it.
But there was a handful that went on to read the rest of
his books and formed this James Herriot book club kinda
thing. They actually got really snooty towards the rest of
us for not liking them. *sniff* Meanies.....

Adult Ralphie: Meanwhile, I struggled for exactly the
right BB gun hint. It had to be firm, but subtle.

Young Ralphie: Flick says he saw some grizzly bears
near Polaski's candy store!

Adult Ralphie: They looked at me as if I had lobsters
crawling out of my ears. I could tell I was in imminent
danger of overplaying my hand.
