I heard the following yesterday, but stess that I do not know if it 
is true. If it is then it really shows what politicans are like.

In the UK we have local government elections coming up (3rd May 
IIRC). Under UK law elections cannot be held when a state of 
emergency has been declared. To call the military in properly (rather 
than just the military police as we have already done), to help out, 
constitutes declaring a national emergency. So, as the Government 
does not want the elections cancelled, they will not call in the 
military.

As I said I do not know if this is true, but p*sses me off to think 
it might be.
