My father, who I swear is a normal sane person, most of the time, wanted to name me Amanda Belinda so that I'd have the initials ABC. Now both are lovely names, especially Amanda which I particularly like, however put together they sound awful. Of course up until the point I was born both my parents referred to me as Manfred!

Sage isn't so bad, I like that, it's not out and out hippie like River or Tree. Isn't Stallone's son called Sage - of course they probably could have called him anything, I mean no-one is going to pick on *his* son :)
Hmm, Cinnamon, there's a song called that. The parents were probably the right age to know it too. Sounds more like a pet name to me. It would be really good for a pet dog ... That's the most positive thin I can think of to say about it, oh and I suppose the girl could shorten it to Cin, which would sound quite cool.

Someone was saying about putting titles before names to see what they sounded like. I was told you could tell if a name was nouveau riche by putting King/Queen in front of it, if it sound stupid it's nouveau riche

I swear that normally sane people lose their minds when naming
children! I read something (can't remember what) a while ago by a
woman writing about her name. When she was born, her parents had a
list of names - one of their favourites was "Lee" (or "Lea"). But her
last name was "King" - Leaking, anyone? :) And, if she had been a
  boy,
they were going to name her "Mark".

Odd names - they never end. My cousin named her son Sage. I think
  it's
a nice name, actually, but most of my relatives were horrified ("It's
a hippie name!"). My mom once taught a girl named Cinnamon (!), and a
Robert Robertson. I know someone whose name is Xena (really), and
  have
met a Beeb, and a Peter Petersen.
