*smiles* One of my friends in grade school was called Anna (Ah-nah), so that's the way I've always thought of it. When I see an Anna on paper, I always read it as "Ah-nah". Freaks out the Ann-nah types, I tell yah -- they just don't see it coming.

Mmmm..not too much to add about names -- mine is Laura, which is as pretty darn normal as you can get. However, whether people see it, hear it, or otherwise come across it in any other form, they will *insist* on calling me Lauren. Not that I don't like Lauren, it's just -- not my name. And it's a bit annoying when someone's staring at a piece of paper with L-A-U-R-A written on it and still says "Lauren".

Also, I get quite irate when called Laurie. More so than Lauren. I'm not really sure why, it just makes me feel hostile. *is very weird, admits it*

On the bright side, it's very difficult to think of embarrassing nicknames (or any sort of nickname whatsoever) for it. I've never even been called Laura Bora, which is about the worst I can think of..hrm. As it's me though, people (especially the young male types) often stick "Little" in frount of it. Erm..I'm kinda short..Also, all the other Lauras I meet seem to be a bit..daft, mostly in a good way, but still -- makes me wonder, can being called something actually effect your personality?

Speaking of daft, while you may now be thinking "well, lucky (?) her, she got a normal name, what a sane mum she must have," I must now break the unfortunate news to you -- my middle name is Ingalls...Yes, as in Laura Ingalls Wilder. *long-suffering sigh* Thankfully, most of the harassing-guy-sort haven't read the series and therefore cannot tease me. Thank God for illiteracy.

The only excuse my mother can possibly claim is that Ingalls *is* a family name (as is Laura). It's actually my Nana's (read: grandmother-who-married-an-Italian-but-really-quite-American) maiden name. So, I guess one could claim it was a total accident -- you know, a coincidence. *sighs again* Ah, well, I will stop boring you now.

laura << which means something like "victoriously crowned with laurel" after some kind of rite they had for the war-winning-types back in the dark ages.
